Commercial Communications Inc. (CCI) was founded in 1982 as a radio communications sales and service company for business, industrial, and government users. Strong emphasis was placed upon providing high quality of service at a reasonable cost, addressing customer needs, and providing innovative solutions to customer’s communication problems.
1985, CCI earned the designation as a GE Mobile Radio Service Center (GESS). This designation required demonstration of technical training, equipment, product knowledge, and current significant GE customer base.
1988, CCI was designated as a GE Mobile Radio Communications Dealer and Manufacturer’s Representative. This designation required additional training in both product knowledge and contract representation with the Federal Government Contracts such as GSA.
1989, CCI moved to a new 3000 sq. ft facility at Gravel Ave. The new facility provides vastly improve drive-in service capability along with expanded service and office space.
The early 1990's brought challenges that many in the industry did not survive. Cellular communications was becoming a rapid growth area. Nextel was buying many systems previously used for mobile communications. Manufacturers were producing programmable radios requiring large investment in computers, software, and the economy was in a tailspin. By maintaining the focus on radio communications rather than cellular and Nextel, CCI able to maintain customer, our base and weather the recession. As the recession waned, CCI emerged a stronger organization with full service capability of all major manufacturers.
As the 1900's progressed so did CCI. The original Alma Mater, GE Mobile Radio Communications, through a succession of owners, becomes the current M/A-COM Inc. To enhance the product offerings, CCI also became Authorized Dealer for Kenwood Corp., Zetron, and Tait North America. These additional products allow CCI to enter the new age of integrated communications solutions for the customers.
The rapid progress of radio communications has resulted in the necessity for major expenditures in training and additional equipment. In 2000, CCI embarked upon a major upgrade of equipment and training to meet the new technologies. Since then, many new continuing contracts and projects have been procured, and CCI has established itself as a leading provider of mobile data service in the Washington Metro Area.
